Campbell River Literacy Association Annual General Meeting & Potluck Dinner
The CR Literacy Association is celebrating another successful year by hosting an End of Year Potluck & our organization’s Annual General Meeting. Join us on June 15th, 2017 at 6:00 p.m. at the Robron Center located at 740 Robron Rd and help celebrate the achievements of our learners and volunteers.
“It is important to recognize that knowing how to read and write impacts our everyday life. Nearly half of all Canadians struggle with some part of Literacy. When some of our learners come to us, they are not able to read such things as bus schedules, street signs or many other things that we take for granted.” – Sherry Bujold, Adult Literacy Program Coordinator.
The CR Literacy Association has five programs: the Adult Literacy Program, Youth ESL, Outreach Literacy Program, Aboriginal Family Literacy, and Family Literacy. To date in the 2016-2017 school year our association helped approximately 198 learners with the assistance of 87 volunteer tutors. We rely tremendously on our community volunteers to assist with learners meeting their literacy goals.
CR Literacy tailors its programming to focus on the goals and needs of each learner. This learner centered approach is supported by volunteer tutors and is provided at no cost to the learner. If you or someone you know might be interested in getting help with reading, writing, math or pronunciation, please call 250 923 1275 or email firstname.lastname@example.org
If you will be attending please call Jenn Bergen at 250-923-1275 or email email@example.com
We will be having a Volunteer Appreciation Tea for our volunteers April 25, 2017 from 2-4 at Robron Centre.
If you are one of our volunteers and would like to attend please call or email the office 250-923-1275 or firstname.lastname@example.org
The Children’s Health Fair is a fun, family event and a great opportunity for parents/caregivers and children to spend time together, while meeting local experts on child development. At the fair, parents/grandparents/caregivers can pick the professionals’ brains with common questions; a few answers from a knowledgeable professional can relieve fears that a parent may have. Families make their way through a number of centres, fun activities, speech and language, dental, vision, and hearing screening. Family Place will be on site with fun interactive activities, storytelling and a free healthy snack.
The office will be closed April 14-17 2017 for Easter Break. We will be open Tuesday April 18, 2017.
